● What does STEM mean?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables students to become the next generation of innovators.

Brain Power After School

This is a new STEM After School in which students can experience three kinds of STEM lessons (puzzles, robots and programming) in English. Using products from the popular teaching material company ARTEC in a fun English speaking environment, we will cultivate "the ability to think by yourself".


Block Programming After School

We will provide programming classes using Lego® WeDo 2.0. This includes 17 projects including engineering, life-, physical-, earth- and space sciences. Students will learn identifying the problem, thinking of solutions, testing their ideas and analyzing results.


Digital Creative After School

We will provide an environment for using Minecraft to study real-world concepts and issues. Students will harness their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a variety of different themes to create and collaborate for the 21st century.


3D Printing and Design After School

Students will learn to be the engineers of tomorrow, as they learn how to design 3D objects and solve real-world problems. Students will also learn STEM skills, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, such as critical thinking, research and how to visualize their ideas.The best part of it all? They will get to actually watch their ideas print and take them home! Let’s bring our ideas to life with cutting edge technologies such as TinkerCAD, 3D slash and the Zortrax M200 Printer!

Brain Power After School

Grade 3 of Kindergarten and Primary students

We will have classes following Artec's "Intellectual Training" curriculum.
There are three types of teaching materials: puzzle (twice a month), robot (once a month) and programming (once a month). We will work on 2-year weekly basis.

How to work on the projects

In these projects students will work on the three stages: Explore, Create, Share

(1)Explore

After watching short videos students will have a discussion and understand more about the topic.

(2)Create

In the Guided Projects students will follow the instruction as they build their model and program it. Then they will modify it as they like. In the Open Projects students will think about their model and its program by themselves.

(3)Share

Depending on the students' level, they will make reports with pictures and movies using the App or give a presentation in front of the class.

How to work on the projects

In these projects students will work on the following stages.

(1)Defining the Problem

They will think about the given topic and define the problems which need to be solved.

They will think about different solutions and choose one which they are going to plan executing.

(3)Trying

They will use iconic programming language in order to activate their model and they will try and see if their solution will work out.

(4)Modifying

They will evaluate their own model and its program and decide if they need to modify it.

(5)Communicating

Each student will explain and showcase their final model.

 What is Minecraft?

Minecraft is a Sandbox game which is widely used in education around the world. You can place the blocks on the ground and in the air and build various kinds of architecture.
There is no limitation to the number of the blocks the size of the land, which let the students create the world as they like.

Even though Minecraft is often underestimated as a game, it has found a place in education where it has a function for every academic subject.
Through Minecraft, students are able to acquire critical thinking skills, build team working abilities, and develop their inquiring minds with creativity and patience.

 3D Printing and Design After School

3D printing enables us to create real-world examples of our ideas. It is especially useful for prototyping and testing product design ideas.
By learning to design virtual objects within a 3D space, students can improve their spacial awareness and logical thinking. Using the printed projects in tandem with other elements (such as simple electronics), students can understand multi-step processes in more detail.

Finally, by creating solutions to problems by creating something, the student's problem solving skills can also be improved.

 Project Plans

LED Rockets Functioning light box Keyholder
We will design a standing space rocket with a flickering LED in the base to mimic the thrusters. A multi-part print which will include a small circuit to make a table light. A custom keyholder with the student's name and a design of their choice.
How to work on the projects

(1)Brainstorming

- consider what is important to help us create the desired solution.

(2)Planning

- carefully choose what shapes/blocks are needed, and how best to arrange them on the printer.

(3)Render/Print

- constructing the print carefully with any additional supports if needed.

(4)Assembly

- take the printed pieces and build them together with any additional pieces (LED, battery, etc).

(5)Feedback

- discuss the final product with everyone, and come up with alternatives to improve the overall design.
