Laurus International School of Science invites young explorers to embark on a week-long journey in the wild! Preschoolers and kindergarteners will explore the Savannah - meeting lions, crafting dioramas, making music and discovering amazing animals and plants.
This engaging program is designed to inspire young minds, ignite creativity and deepen the understanding on the various interconnected elements of our natural world. You will learn, play and make friends every day. Pack your creativity and let’s explore the Savannah together!

Our little explorers begin their journey with hands-on fun! By crafting standing animal puzzles and playing with shadows, they’ll dive into the savannah world while boosting imagination and fine motor skills.Kindergarten
The savannah comes to life with a virtual safari, a gooey quicksand experiment, and a classroom safari hunt! Children will move, observe, and imagine as they step into the world of wild animals. -
Preschool
ROAR! Children will craft lion masks, wear them with pride, and become kings and queens of the savannah. With playful roars and bold imagination, they'll learn through dramatic role play.Kindergarten
Inspired by African art, students will create vivid lion portraits in the Tingatinga style. They'll observe paw prints and learn about predator life! -
Preschool
Sunlight, wind, and rain—children will discover nature’s moods through colorful crafts and shadow experiments. A day of sensory exploration and creative expression!Kindergarten
A cloud-in-a-jar experiment shows how rain forms, followed by a lively rain dance. With science and movement, kids explore the savannah's unique climate in a fun, active way. -
Preschool
Children will build a towering baobab tree and test their balancing skills through a playful stacking game. Along the way, they’ll learn about this iconic African tree.Kindergarten
From the texture of leaves to the tiny bugs that hide in the grass, children will investigate the savannah’s plant life through close observation and creative rubbings. -

Let’s listen to the wild! With handmade rain sticks and African instruments, children will explore sound through rhythm, vibration, and group music play.Kindergarten
Through drum-making, soundwave experiments, and animal sound guessing games, students will explore how sound works—and end the week with a joyful rhythm!

The design of our indoor living spaces shows our cultural priorities and deeply held beliefs. These priorities have changed more in the last 5 years than they have in generations. We are seeing macro shifts in interior design. Let’s explore the future of indoor living spaces. What kind of society do we want to encourage? What materials should we use? How should we arrange our living spaces? We’ll design the homes and offices of the future.

Special Astro Course by Dr Paul Cizdziel: Understanding and Viewing the Cosmos
Mankind’s relationship to the stars and constellations have been a key foundation of human culture since the beginning of time. We will explore several ways it has influenced human history, and why and how we study the cosmos today.
The new era of astronomical discovery employs powerful telescopes and other detectors; several of which orbit in space. We will explore what we know about the universe and the massive celestial structures that comprise it. Students will learn how to find various celestial objects in the sky and which are possible see and photograph with very simple digital photography tools.
In the last decade, astrophotography has been enabled primarily by advances in hardware integration (telescopes & mounts), software solutions, improved digital camera sensors and image processing. Advanced amateur telescope equipment will be demonstrated.
Activities:
3D Constellation – Students (group work) will construct a hanging 3D model of an anonymous star pattern using provided x-y-z coordinates.
Earth Orbital & Solar System Model – A 3D model of the earth`s orbit will be constructed to illustrate how and why the seasons and constellations change in the night sky through-out the year.
Excursion – JAXA Aerospace Center and Earth Life Science Institute
Image Planning - Students will plan out an imaging project like the Milky Way or Planet Saturn, or Andromeda galaxy. Students will then determine the needed equipment, timing, location and sky position to complete the (hypothetical) task.
Night Viewing – Depending on the weather and cloud forecast, telescope viewing of the stars (attendance optional).

Modern problems require inventive solutions! In Future Homes we will investigate how the challenges of today may shape the buildings of tomorrow.
From smart technologies to sustainable materials, and from cultural shifts to climate change, we will explore how emerging innovations can help us futureproof the homes we live in.

What’s the best way to get from location A to location B? The answer largely depends on three factors; where location A is, where location B is, and the criteria by which you define ‘best’. From flying cars to floating trains, and from space elevators to spaceships, in Future Transport we will explore a range of concepts for moving people and goods between cities, between nations, and between planets.

As each day passes, the digital world and the physical world merge together more and more. How we communicate, how we work, how we play, how we live have all changed dramatically over the last few years. What will the future hold? In this week of Summer School, the students will gaze into the future and see how technology will change their lives and will work to have an impact and a guiding influence on how that future will unfold.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If a parent/guardian wishes to cancel or change the course after registration, a handling fee of 1,000 yen will be charged. After the registration deadline, kindly note that course changes and refunds will not be made.
Important Information for Summer Students
What to Bring
Please write your name in English on all of your belongings.
Please bring a water bottle, cutlery, inner shoes, and hand tissue.
Health & Safety
For students with allergies, please bring your own lunch as we are unable to provide lunch for students with allergies during seasonal events.
During seasonal events we are unable to accept students requiring the use of an EpiPen due to the lack of medical staff available.
Since the administration of medication to children is a “medical procedure” as defined by law, we do not have permission to administer medication to children. Therefore, as a general rule, we are not able to accept medication at the school or on the school bus.
Insurance
International participants must purchase travel insurance. If you do not have travel insurance and become ill or injured while attending our seasonal event, you will be responsible for your own medical expenses.
