Bringing Learning to Life 

Understanding climate change is about more than learning scientific facts—it requires curiosity, collaboration and an appreciation of how our world is interconnected. 

As part of our growing partnership with Schneider Electric Japan, our Year 8 students visited the company's Innovation Hub to participate in the internationally recognised Climate Fresk workshop. Guided by Schneider Electric facilitators, students explored one of the world's most pressing challenges through discussion, teamwork and critical thinking. 

Rather than listening to a traditional presentation, students worked together to uncover the links between human activity, climate systems and their impact on the planet.

Working in small groups, students used scientifically validated Climate Fresk cards based on research from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Their challenge was to identify the relationships between human activity, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental change, and the impacts on ecosystems and society.

As the workshop progressed, each team gradually built a visual map showing how these global issues are interconnected. Through discussion, debate and problem-solving, students developed a deeper understanding of the complexity of climate change and why systems thinking is essential when addressing global challenges.


Why It Matters

Experiences like this help students connect classroom learning with real-world challenges. By working alongside Schneider Electric professionals, they discovered how science, technology and innovation are helping organisations improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and develop practical solutions to environmental challenges.

The workshop also encouraged students to consider the important role that individuals, communities, governments and businesses all play in creating a more sustainable future.
