Stay Curious, Keep Learning: Prof. Bawendi’s Words That Inspire Me

Hello everyone! I’m Yuika and I’d like to talk about thing that happened on 18th November.

I went to The University of Tokyo to give a bouquet to Prof.Bawendi who is Nobel prize winner in Chemistry. He invented Quantum dot and received Nobel prize in 2023. Quantum Dot is a type of semiconductor nanocrystal a particle so small (typically 2 to 10 nanometers)that its electronic and optical properties are governed by quantum mechanics. Quantum dots are used for TV's "Technology to enhance color reproduction"

Why I was chosen.

My father is researching Quantum dot as well. And his company invited Prof.Bawendi to Japan and the lecture. His colleagues know that I can speak English and I have an interest in Nobel Prize very much and wants to receive a Nobel prize someday, so they think I am good for giving bouquet to Prof.Bawendi.

Prof. Bawendi was very kind and he gave us nice advice.

・Stay Curious

・Keep Learning

・Be Flexible

・Don’t give up

・Enjoy Life

“No worries even if it’s not going well.” Especially, I remembered this message. I’m very honored to listen his lecture and get a role to give him a bouquet in front of more than 300 people at the big hall. I wish that more people will be interested in quantum dot and Nobel prize.
